June 30 Art Walk: Spotlight on Charles North

Join us for the first Station North Art Walk of 2023, an evening of simultaneous exhibitions, performances, and special events in the Station North Arts District with a spotlight on the Charles North neighborhood. Pick up a map at the Motor House and create your own self-guided tour.

The event is free, we just ask that you register for a ticket so we can track attendance and share updates. Full program and Art Walk map coming soon!

Area 405 I 405 E Oliver St

Join Area 405 artists for open studios and an outdoor pop-up. Artists working out of the 2nd and 3rd floors will open their studio doors to the public. Light snacks and refreshments provided.
Outdoors/Indoors, open studios are on the 2nd & 3rd floors, stairs required to reach the indoor studios.

Do Good Video Productions

Do Good Video will give you a behind the scenes look at their video production studio and editing suite. Ask questions and learn about video production, video strategy, and how to use video to create positive social impact. Early arrivals will have the opportunity to create their very own LinkedIn profile video!

~ Lehna Huie - 3rd Floor
Lehna Huie is a multi- disciplinary artist and cultural worker of Jamaican heritage from New York City. Huie works in painting, installation and video on themes of diaspora, memory and fragmentation, creating atmospheric portraits that document her lineage . She’s a current artist in residence of Museum of Contemporary African Diaspora Art and Asian American Alliance-Bandung Residency 23’.

You are invited to an open studio visit of multi-media artist, Terence Nicholson. Terence will give an informal artist talk about his process and inspiration. All ages are invited!

Stop by to meet the fiber artists who produce small-batch, hand-dyed yarn. We'll have yarn available to purchase for knitting, crocheting, weaving, and embroidery, as well as handmade blankets and accessories for your home or gifts.

~ Weaverknits - 2nd Floor
Ann Weaver is a fiber artist focused on creating quilts and blankets from vintage, upcycled, and found textiles. Much of her work is a collaboration with unnamed craftspeople from the past as she repairs, updates, and finishes vintage blankets, quilt tops, and coverlets.

Free Gel Plate Printing Activity

Artist and Craftsman Supply presents a free gel plate printing workshop. Speedball gel plates are ideal for making rich monotype prints without a press. All materials will be provided to experiment with lifting color and incorporating stencils. Bring leaves, feathers or other flat materials to make your print unique.

Baltimore Improv Group I multiple locations

"Improving In The Streets" | 1706 North Charles St, 6PM - 8PM

In this show improvisers from the Baltimore Improv Group will conduct a fun interview of an Art Walk attendee to get to know them better and perform a montage set based off of the answers given in the interview. The show will take place in the surface parking lot next to the Metro Gallery from 6-8pm with 25 minute sets starting at 6pm, 6:30pm, 7pm, and 7:30pm.

BIG Time | 1727 N. Charles St, 8PM

BIG Time is an improv interview show of Baltimore's most interesting people! Join us as we bring on a Baltimore celebrity and turn their life and work into hilarious comedy on the spot. 

Guilty Pleasures | | 1727 N. Charles St, 9PM

Join improv teams Bootleg Nutmeg and Owl Legz for a comedic exploration of everyone's guilty pleasures! Share your favorite forbidden delights and watch them blossom into hilarious comedy right on the spot.

Women, I Know solo is an exhibition featuring work by Angela Caldwell. Angela Caldwell creates wearable and armor-like representations that embody the spirit of women and offer a perspective on the strength they provide. By deconstructing and reinterpreting the quilt, she commemorates the women of her past.

Galerie Myrtis I 2224 N Charles St

Galerie Myrtis presents "Water Grieves in the Six Shades of Death," featuring the work of multidisciplinary artist Morel Doucet who investigates critical issues of environmental racism. Doucet raises awareness and promotes dialogue about social inequality through ceramics, colorful silhouettes, impressions of native flora and fauna, and decorative ironwork salvaged from demolished dwellings to explore the impact of climate change and developers on this marginalized community.

Come to the closing reception and last day to see Paint Night. What happens when artists go to paint night? As a means to return to the world after covid artists Sara Kaltwasser and Sarah McCann started going to paint nights. These 2021 & 2022 paint nights offered a low/no pressure space to create as they gained their footing again, and immersed in community in a fun and creative way. They then invited other artists to create all the same Paint Night paintings and exhibit them together. Consider this a painterly game of telephone! How will each person respond? Which artwork was chosen to riff off of or remix?

~ Lindsay Petrick Opening Reception: Lindsay Petrick is an illustrator and designer working for an ad agency in Baltimore. She always knew she wanted to be an artist of some sort. It wasn’t until she went to art school that she was really able to figure out what got her excited about creating. While at The Maryland Institute, College of Art (MICA) Lindsay learned how much she loved design and working under pressure which led her to a career in advertising. She still loves to draw and paint in her free time and over the years she’s learned that she also loves food styling, interior design, event planning, and raising moths and butterflies. Join us during #finalfriday in welcoming Lindsay's work to The Royal Blue! Meet the artist and enjoy happy hour drink specials and weekend food specials!

Roberto Dyea, the artist on view, has a connection to Manga—a style of Japanese comic books and graphic novels—because of the stories that they tell. The goal of the exhibition "Survive The One" is to present a future of Indigenous art. The artist asks: "What would Indigenous Manga characters look like in the 21st century?" The artist will offer insight and context through an exhibition.
