Central Baltimore Partnership & Johns Hopkins Unveil New Plan for Station North

Strategy aims to spur further economic development momentum in Baltimore arts district

Baltimore, MD, May 1, 2024 - Central Baltimore Partnership (CBP) and Johns Hopkins University (JHU) proudly announce the release of the groundbreaking 2024 Station North Economic Development Implementation Roadmap. Commissioned by CBP, funded by a JHU grant and completed by HR&A Advisors, the comprehensive plan provides a practical guide for economic development initiatives in Baltimore's Station North neighborhood.

At the outset of this study, ownership of the North Avenue Market was in the process of changing, and the opportunity for this historic property to impact the future direction of the neighborhood signified for CBP and JHU the need for a coherent strategy to inform subsequent actions. HR&A conducted a real estate market analysis, extensive stakeholder interviews, multiple site visits, and compiled an inventory of existing economic development tools and resources to underpin its recommendations. The study has been informed throughout by the following guiding principles:

• Leverage the unique arts and culture of Station North
• Plan for inclusive growth to avoid displacement of residents and businesses
• Provide opportunities for equitable economic advancement
• Cater to all audiences – existing and new residents, artists, students, businesses, and visitors

This Implementation Roadmap (or “Roadmap”) provides actionable pathways to realize the longstanding equitable revitalization objectives and recommendations for Station North. It is intended to guide the diverse neighborhood coalition led by CBP as well as inform and attract outside developers, institutions, entrepreneurs, and residents to invest in Station North.
