Inviting Light

Inviting Light is a public art project curated by Baltimore’s Derrick Adams and supported by a Bloomberg Philanthropies’ $1 million Public Art Challenge grant.

The project is illuminating Station North with five artistic light installations, featuring a year of events and arts programming for the community to enjoy and take part in.

Inviting Light is sponsored by Bloomberg Philanthropies and facilitated by Central Baltimore Partnership in partnership with the Mayor’s Office and the Neighborhood Design Center.

Station North Art Walk

Every second Friday of the month, artists and venues welcome the public for a self-guided tour of gallery exhibitions, open studios, and food and retail specials in the artistic heart of Baltimore.

Art Walks are a grassroots, artist-led effort organized by community members with support from Central Baltimore Partnership.

Asia North

Asia North celebrates the arts and Asian culture that are defining characteristics of Baltimore’s Charles North neighborhood, part of the Station North Arts and Entertainment District.

Inaugurated in spring 2019, Asia North is a collaborative community celebration that recognizes, showcases, and honors the art, culture and the Asian heritage of Greater Baltimore, especially the Korean history of Baltimore’s Charles North community.

Asia North is co-produced by the Central Baltimore Partnership and the Asian Arts & Culture Center at Towson University.

Station North Holiday Market

Launched as a retail platform and lifeline for independent artists and makers during the Covid-19 pandemic, the annual Station North Holiday Market has become a much loved day of festive peace and joy on North Avenue.

The 2024 Holiday Market generated over $50,000 in income for 50+ artists and makers in a single afternoon.

Public Art

Guided by the Station North Public Space Plan, we envision a place where the arts are palpable in every block with extraordinary experiences and public art present every step of the way.

Recent projects include Layers of Love by Wesley Clark (sculpture, North Avenue median), the Artscape Park mural by Adam Stab, The Nest We’ve Woven by Nether (mural, Metro Baltimore), and Signal Station North demonstration projects at Blue Light Junction and the Wonderground.

Station North is known for its murals, 34 of which were installed during the landmark Open Walls Baltimore street art project in 2012 and 2014, curated by Gaia.

AREA 405

The 120-year-old, 70,000 square-foot industrial building in Greenmount West is one of Baltimore’s largest creative workspaces. AREA 405 includes 40 art studios, an event space, and the Station North Tool Library.

In 2022, with an array of funding and unique public/private partnership, CBP and developer Ernst Valery purchased Area 405 to preserve it as an affordable, vital art hub. Since then CBP has made extensive improvements to the building while preserving its historic character.

District Festivals

Located at the geographic center of Baltimore City with easy access to Penn Station, Station North Arts District is home to annual festivals including Baltimore Pride, the Maryland Film Festival, Asia North, the Charles Street Promenade, the New/Next Film Festival, Sweaty Eyeballs, Subscape, and Artscape.

CBP collaborates with festival presenters to bring large-scale arts and cultural events to Station North, and facilitates the participation of District-based artists and small businesses.
