“Back to the Real World” is a multimedia journal documenting Mike Byson’s travels through Asia in 2023. Through painting, drawing, photography, music, and film he writes a love letter to an eye-opening experience. A lifelong traveler, Mike is a firm believer in exploring new places and meeting new people to get outside his comfort zone and develop his perspective of the world. However, his experiences in Asia shifted this perspective in ways he couldn’t imagine. The people he met and the places he visited helped him see the world for what it truly is. “Back to the Real World” is a tribute to the indescribable beauty, the heart-breaking truths, and all the warm, welcoming people who touched his soul along the way.

BALTIMORE JEWELERY CENTER

10 E. North Ave, Suite 130, Baltimore, MD 21202

Visit the BJC and enjoy our latest exhibition Love & Other Connections by Richmond-based artist Kathleen Kennedy. This exhibitions reimaginges jewelry as sculpture, transforming iconic components -- like heart charms, lockets, and classps -- into larger objects of weighted significance. These exaggerated forms become stand-ins for relationships, emiotions, and, ultimately, people. Through this lens jewelry's role as souvenir of connection is amplified and examined.

NIGHT OWL GALLERY

1735 Maryland Ave

Night Owl Gallery is proud to present the opening reception for Parallel Play and Vivisepultura, two concurrent exhibitions running from September 12 through October 18, 2025. In dialogue with one another, artists Jonah Brock and Rory Holcomb explore the body as lived experience, contested site, and unruly boundary—investigating its vulnerability, pleasures, and refusal to be reduced to mere image.

Across painting, textile, and installation, both artists reject dominant American forms of relationality and sovereignty, instead insisting on the body’s material presence. How aware are we of our own bodies and the bodies of others? How many times do we touch someone in a day? What is the ecstasy—and the fear—of contact?
