Sweaty Everything
Alongside Sweaty Eyeballs’ 14th year as Baltimore’s premier animation festival, Sweaty Everything asks us to think of animation as a perspective rather than a medium. When looking at the world, we have an instinct to imagine its life: the ways in which the beings in it interact and move. A narrative emerges, a history. As animators, we see ourselves and our point of view reflected in other artforms. We push upon the walls of our medium, inviting others to expand our realm of possibility. There’s human behavior that connects all of this—sequence, story keeping, embodiment.

Wish You Were Here
From a starting point of nostalgia and wishful thinking, the landscape-inspired paintings and drawings on view in ‘Wish You Were Here’ explore a broad array of ideas and observations. Ranging from man-made disasters to fantasy, this work comprises Kate Mackinnon’s first solo exhibition in 10 years. The riverbed images first appeared in 2017 in a series based on the visual signs of climate change. The ocean scapes were begun in 2021 during the COVID lockdown. The Super bloom paintings soon followed in a continuation of themes of longing and escapism which she continues to explore.

Terra (Almost) Firma: Unearthing the Unstable Ground
Terra (Almost) Firma: Unearthing the Unstable Ground, is a multi-media group exhibition that asks what becomes visible when we stop taking the ground beneath us for granted—and when we slow down long enough to observe it closely. Across the exhibition, soil and land emerge not as passive surfaces but as active sites where ecological processes, human histories, memory, conflict, attention, bodily life, and transformation continually meet. The exhibition will be presented at two venues in Baltimore City.
